Abstract:

Introduction: Studies show polymorphism in leptin gene cause increase in level of leptin hormone and increased level of leptin hormon is associated with abosity, insulin resistance and increased risk of colorectal cancer. The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of leptin gene polymorphism rs 7799039 in Tehran and to investigate the influence of this polymorphism in increased risk of colorectal cancer. Methods: In this case-control study, genotyping of the leptin gene were determined in series of 108 colorectal cancer patients and 108 controls by using polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism genotyping assays (PCR-RFLP).The statistical analysis was done with SPSS 16. Results: The frequency of A allele in patient group and control group were 52.8% and 62.5%, respectively. In this study allele frequency showed significant deference between patient group and control group (P=0.04). In patient group frequency of GG, GA, AA for leptin gene were 19.4%, 55.6% and 25%, respectively and in control were 38%, 49.1% and 13%. Conclusion: These findings suggest that polymorphism Leptin rs 7799039, is associated with decreased risk of CRC

Association of Vitamin D Receptor Polymorphism (VDR rs 2238136) with Colorectal Cancer

Background & Aims: Many studies have demonstrated that Vitamin D has an important role in cell growth and proliferation and vitamin D receptor polymorphism has significant relationship with colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of VDR rs 2238136 polymorphism in Iranian population and to investigate the relationship between this single nucleotide polymorphism...

association of leptin receptor gene gln223arg polymorphism with susceptibility to colorectal cancer

aim : leptin is a 16 kda polypeptide hormone which secreted by adipose tissue and has an important role in energy balance, insulin pathway and inflammation, because of that it may play an important role in colorectal cancer (crc). leptin exerts its effect through the leptin receptor (lepr) a member of the class i cytokine receptor family. background : we have investigated whether glutamine to a...

Investigating the methylation status of DACT2 gene and its association with MTHFR C677T polymorphism in patients with colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the common causes of cancer death in Iranian population. Both genetic and epigenetic changes have been implicated in CRC pathogenesis. DACT2 gene as one of the WNT signaling pathway inhibitor was shown to display tumor suppressor activity in many cancers. The aim of present study was to investigate the methylation status of DACT2 gene and its ...

Association between rs 1800561 CD38 Gene Polymorphism and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Risk

Background and purpose: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common form of adult leukemia characterized by the accumulation of seemingly mature type B lymphocytes in peripheral blood and lymphatic organs. One of the main markers used in the diagnosis and prognosis of CLL is the CD38 gene. Polymorphism is considered to be a major genetic source of phenotypic change within a species an...
